What you need to know
Acer announced its new Enduro lineup of rugged devices today. The lineup includes two rugged notebooks, the Enduro N7 and Enduro N3 as well as two tough tablets, the Enduro T1 and Enduro T5. Acer built the Enduro PCs to handle tough and demanding work environments such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, and the outdoors. The PCs feature impact resistance, dust resistance, and water resistance, including being MIL-810G and IP65 certified in the case of the Enduro N7. Pricing and availability details aren’t fully available at this time, but the Acer Enduro N3 should be available in North America in August starting at $899.
The Enduro N7 is a rugged notebook with shock absorbent protection. It’s MIL-810G and IP65 certified and has been testing to withstand drops on hard flooring. It’s capable or running in hot or cold environments and should be easily viewable outdoors thanks to its 700-nit 14-inch screen. It has two batteries inside, one that can be hot-swapped and another to bridge between swaps.
On the inside, the Enduro N7 runs on a quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core i5 processor. It features TPM 2.0 for device security and a fingerprint sensor that supports Windows Hello.
The Enduro N3 is another rugged notebook from Acer. It’s designed to be more portable while maintaining durability. It’s drop and water resistant and MIL-STD 810G and IP53 certified. It has reinforced corners for drops and Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent damage to the screen. It has Aquafan, which adds water-resistance.
In addition to physical protection, the Enduro N3 features security features such as a Discrete Trusted Platform Module, AEMS, and password-protected HDDs. Acer states that it gets up to 13 hours of battery life. It runs on a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and has an option for an NVIDIA GeForce MX230 discrete GPU.
The Enduro T5 is the most durable tablet of the Enduro line. It’s a 10-inch tablet that runs on a 7th Gen Intel Core m3 processor. The tablet is MIL-STD 810G and IP65 certified and has a swappable battery that Acer states lasts up to 10 hours. It works with several accessories, including a docking station, hand grips, shoulder straps, 4-point shoulder straps, car chargers, and car holders.
The last Windows device in the Enduro lineup is the Enduro T1. It’s a bit like a rugged Surface Go, in that it’s a 10-inch tablet that can also work as a notebook with an optional portfolio keyboard. Unlike most other convertible tablets, it’s MIL-STD 810G and IP54 certified. It runs on an Intel Celeron processor. The Enduro T1 can be used with gloves, making it more useable in heavy duty environments.
