ASUS launched the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 today, a powerful gaming laptop with a large secondary display. The 15-inch laptop houses a 14.1-inch panel just above the keyboard that can be used as a secondary display or an extension of your primary display. ASUS and some third parties have customized apps and experiences for the secondary display, such as moving chats or menus to the lower display. TheROG Zephyrus Duo 15 starts at $3,000and is available starting today.

The secondary display, known as the ROG ScreenPad Plus, stands out and will likely grab people’s eye right away. In addition to being a secondary display, a rare feature for any non-ASUS laptop, the ROG ScreenPad Plus also bumps up 13 degrees to improve its viewing angle. The ScreenPad Plus is 3840x1100 pixels at 60Hz and supports touch.

The ScreenPad Plus can be used for multitasking, such as putting a couple of windows down below while having a large window on the primary display. It can also be used as an extension of the primary display. ROG worked with Techland to optimize games, including Dying Light 2, to move chats to the ScreenPad Plus. The ScreenPad Plus also adds touchscreen controls for some games, including managing your inventory.

While the ScreenPad Plus is unique, the laptop has internals that line up with more traditional gaming laptops. People can choose between a 4K UHD primary display or an FHD primary display with a 300Hz refresh rate and a response time of 3ms. The displays support NVIDIA G-SYNC to help ensure smooth gameplay.

The laptop runs on up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super that has peak clock speeds of up to 1330MHz in Turbo mode. Those graphics are paired with up to an 8-core 10th Gen Intel Core i9 processor.

We got anearly preview of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15earlier this year. After a relatively brief hands-on with the device, our editor Richard Devine, came away excited to get his hands on the laptop again. He concludes his preview by saying, “Once more ASUS has gone wild with its hero gaming laptop and it looks like a remarkable spectacle. I can’t wait to spend actual, proper time with it in the future.”

At the time of publication, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 doesn’t seem to be on sale, or at least the store listings don’t let you place an order. But ASUS states the laptop is launching today, so it should be available for purchase soon.
