Czech-based antivirus giant, Avast, has a new version of its web browser, calledAvast Secure Browserthat’s built to do what users expect a browser to do.
The digital security company has a good reputation when it comes toInternet privacy, what with its antivirus software that has both detected andprevented ransomwareand malware attacks around the globe.
If you’ll recall, last year saw one of the largest ransomware attacks by theWannaCry threat, and Avast’s security software prevented about a quarter of one million such attacks across the world.
Avast Secure Browser protects your online privacy
This and other comprehensive features makes Avast a promising option for security and privacy among users who fear for their data, even in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Among the laundry list of features that Avast Secure Browser offers include a built-inpassword manager, banking mode, stealth mode, anti-phishing, extension guard, andHTTPS encryption. You also won’t need to download extra software or install anything because its privacy features are turned on by default.
Besides offering a more secure browser than its competitors, Avast’s browser – the company claims – is 400 percent faster than other major browsers, in addition tofaster load times on web pages.
But, while this may be true in some cases, there is a tendency by browser makers to pick out tests that suit them, so these claims aren’t independently verified yet.
Additionally, no browser can claim to be completely invincible. Remember the Avastium browser, which apparently was vulnerable to an exploit that could not only bypass security checks, but could also access cookies and email.
This new browser, which is the successor of Avast SafeZone Browser, has a raft of handy features such as the built-in adblocker, a VPN, and easy video downloader for YouTube and Vimeo, which will make it attractive to users.
