Publisher Deep Silver has announced that the long-awaitedDead Island 2will release on April 21stthis year. That’s a week earlier than theprevious April 28 launch date.

You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it’s coming out a week early.See you in HELL-A on April 21, 2023.#DeadIsland#SeeYouInHELLApic.twitter.com/8Gu28bIcUS

You’ll notice the team also mentions in the post that the game has already hit gold status. (This means the game has completed the development stage and been granted the “seal of approval” from the first-party hardware makers). This typically happens a few weeks before launch, so the fact thatDead Island 2has already “hit gold” would facilitate the new release date.

Another potential reason for bumping up the game’s launch might beStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, which recently saw its March release window pushed back to April 28th. Likely the new release date forDead Island 2is not entirely unrelated.

Both games are currently available for pre-order.
