Microsoft released an update to fix this issue

Update file KB 3001266 fixes the problem where Office documents freeze when saving through a slow network on a domain-joined computer in Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.

Here’s how the error occurs:

You have a domain that has the Dynamic Access Control feature enabled in the Active Directory Administrative Center.

You have a domain-joined computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012.

AMicrosoft Officedocument is located on a File Classification Infrastructure (FCI)-defined server.

You try to update and save the document through a slow network.

So, if the above happens, then yourMicrosoft Officedocument hangs for about one minute before it is saved.

Microsoft also says that while subsequent save operations during the next eight hours do not experience any delay, there will be a delay every eight hours.

There isn’t a hotfix available for download for this problem, so you just need to make sure that you have the November 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, as well as for Windows RT, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012 running.
