Mere minutes after 343 Industries released a newupdateonHalo Infinite’sdevelopment, aHalofan on Twitter by the name of @ZachRRobertson discovered a hidden audio file embedded in theblog post. You can listen to the file yourselfhere.
ALSO quietly tucked away in this article is an AUDIO FILE between Chief and Halsey.https://t.co/CGxmwvcRkSALSO quietly tucked away in this article is an AUDIO FILE between Chief and Halsey.https://t.co/CGxmwvcRkS— zach (@ZachRRobertson)February 26, 2021February 26, 2021
The first half of the audio log features Dr. Halsey speaking with an unknown individual (most likely a UNSC officer) about Cortana’s takeover of the galaxy following the events of Halo 5: Guardians. Master Chief can then be heard entering the scene, and he speaks with Dr. Halsey about the plan moving forward. When Chief asks Halsey about the AI that are allying with Cortana’s cause, Halsey notes that while these AI are opposing the UNSC, they might not necessarily be hostile towards Chief himself. This implies the possibility that Master Chief might be able to turn some of Cortana’s allies away from her side in a way that the wider UNSC wouldn’t be able to do. This could ultimately lead to her downfall, which we may see over the course of Halo Infinite or learn about throughout the campaign.
Ultimately, only time will tell what really happens to Cortana and her Created faction, but this audio file has given fans a lot to think about.
