If you’re a Microsoft fan, you might remember the day March 14, 2017. This was when MicrosoftTeams hit general availability, after apreviewphase, and just a few months after took the tech industry by surprise withthe November 2016 announcement of the productin New York City. The world has changed a lot since then, but to mark the moment, Microsoft has put together a funcelebratory blog postlooking at the past.
Written by Corporate Vice President Jeff Teper, the blog post offers insider insight into how Teams evolved ever since it was first launched. Teper looks at how Microsoft took feedback from customers using Teams features like meetings, channels, and documents to help make Teams better. He spends a lot of time talking about how Teams is unique as both a “async” and “sync” collaboration product, and how Teams hit the unprecedented level of 20 million users in two year since launch.
There’s also his personal side of him taking charge of Teams, too. Not to mention how Microsoft moved Azure cores to support the boost in Teams usership, and how Microsoft met with customers to hear their feedback on what was needed in the security, reliability, scalability, performance, and functionality.
In all these five years, Teams has picked upa lot of new featuresto bring it up to speed with Zoom and Slack. We’ve seen things like Together Mode, background blur, custom backgrounds, and so much more. Operations here at OnMSFT.com have also beenpowered by Microsoft Teams, ever since 2017. Congrats, Microsoft for hitting five years of Teams! With Teams on the boom with270 million monthly active users, we look forward to many more years to come!

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
