Those of you who have installed the official Facebook app on their Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 devices might have troubles turning off the Chat function. What you need to do is to go to the Facebook Windows 8.1 chat app, click on accounts, then click your Facebook account, and click ‘manage it online’. On the page you’ll be able to disable the chat functionality. If this doesn’t work in the Windows 8.1 app, then you need to go to the web browser and disable this from there, unfortunately.
