WB Games Montreal isn’t the primary studio behind the Batman Arkham series (that would be Rocksteady Games), but it was the main studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins in 2013. So even though Gotham Knights wasn’t teased as connected to the Arkham universe, you can see why there were some questions as to whether it actually was.
The studio’sGotham Knights, which was announced at DC FanDome, is not a sequel to the 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight from Rocksteady Games. It’s easy to understand why people would be confused though, since the game was revealed with ateaser trailerwhere Batman has seemingly died via an explosion in the Batcave. Considering this is very similar to the idea that Batman: Arkham Knight’s story ended on, thinking Gotham Knights was a continuation is totally understandable.
Warner Bros. Montreal has confirmed it’s completely separate though, so we can look forward to a completely new Batman universe with new possibilities.
Is Gotham Knights connected to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Making matters more confusing, Rocksteady Games’s next title,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, looks nothing like the Arkham games butisreportedly set in the same universe. Details are still sparse on the new Suicide Squad game (it’s set for release in 2022), so we don’t know just yet what the connection is. Either way, this means that Gotham Knights isalsonot connected to Suicide Squad.
Gotham Knights is set to release at some point in 2021 onXbox Series X, Xbox One, PC,PS5and PS4. It can be played solo or in two-player co-op and the roster of playable characters currently consists of Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood.

Batman: Arkham Knight is (for now) the conclusion to the Batman: Arkham series. Take on Scarecrow and a league of supervillains across Gotham City using Batman’s full arsenal, including the Batmobile.
