Key notes

As you may know,Microsoft won the case against FTCand now the Redmond-based tech giant is free to close the acquisition with Activision-Blizzard. Following the news of winning,Microsoft fixed the old Call of Duty games’ matchmaking, which pleased a lot of gamers.

Owning the Activision-Blizzard catalog means that Microsoft now has access to games such as Diablo, Call of Duty, and Warcraft and its massively popular spinoff, World of Warcraft.

Microsoft has already closea deal with PlayStation to allow Call of Duty games on that console. But when it comes to Blizzard games, it seems that they won’t be on Game Pass any time soon, per a deleted tweet from Mike Ybarra.

However, there is a real need for a Warcraft x Minecraft game or at least a sort of crossover. And players have been wondering about it, ever since the news of Microsoft being free to close the deal hit.

Is Warcraft x Minecraft a possibility now?

Is Warcraft x Minecraft a possibility now?

As you may know, Minecraft is developed by Mojang, which has been a Microsoft subsidiary since 2014. Minecraft is already the world’s best-selling video game ever, with over 238 million units sold. The game is still very popular, and it currently has 140 million monthly active users.

On the other hand, Blizzard has developed the Warcraft franchise. And Warcraft 3 is still incredibly popular after 20 years from its original release.

The game got a reforged version in 2020, but it was panned, both by critics and players alike. However, despite this, World of Warcraft, which is based on the game, is still the world’s most popular MMORPG.

Now that Microsoft owns Blizzard, there might be the possibility of a crossover between the two games. But not in the literal sense. There won’t be a Warcraft mode in Minecraft, or vice versa.

But there is a strong possibility that you’ll see elements and toys and playable items from one game into the other. We’re talking about gear, items, and transmogs inspired by Minecraft in World of Warcraft or Warcraft 3 Reforged and vice versa as well.

In fact, Blizzard has a tradition of taking elements from one of their game and putting those in another of their game. For example, in World of Warcraft, there are a lot of mounts and clothes taken directly from the Diablo universe.

This exact thing might happen with Minecraft as well. And the chance is strong, given that Blizzard often releases special mounts on special occasions that are linked to one of their collaborators or business partners.

So yes, Warcraft x Minecraft is definitely a real possibility now. Just not in the way you’d expect it to be.
