A new patch forMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1has arrived, bringing fixes to brokenPS4Trophies. However, it looks as though some minor bugs still persist.
Released on November 27, the update fixes issues withMetal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, andMetal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snakewhere Trophies in the PS4 version of the game wouldn’t unlock properly. Unfortunately, it looks as though the fix isn’t retroactive, with thepatch notesmaking it clear that “the requirements for these trophies must be met again in order for them to be unlocked.”
What’s more, the update “fixed some minor issues and made additional adjustments,” though the patch notes don’t specify exactly what these are.
However, it also looks like several bugs across the anthology have yet to be squashed. In its ‘Issues Under Investigation’ section, the patch notes identify a handful of glitches that remain outstanding. This includes a problem that “sometimes causes certain cutscenes to stop playing” inMetal Gear Solid, as well as an issue inMetal Gear Solid 3"where some face paints are displayed in a lower resolution."
Despite these ongoing issues, Konami pledged that “we will continue to provide regular updates on future improvements and fixes as further details are finalized.” This means that we’ll likely see further fixes in the future.
Here at TRG, we very much enjoyed theMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1.Our editor in chief Jake Tucker made it clear: “There’s no denying every game in this collection still has the magic.”
That said, it’s not a recommendation we can make unreservedly. Though the anthology still has a lot to offer, we were disappointed by more than a few “awkward” moments that haveaged badly. However, if you’re looking for a way to experience some of the most influential stealth games of all time,Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1is definitely the way to do it.
