Microsoft 365 service faces another outage – Western Europe users affected

Earlier this month,Microsoft faced a significant distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack,resulting in widespread disruptions across its Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive. Now two weeks later, Microsoft 365 services have experienced another disruption.

According to the official Microsoft 365 status Twitter account, the impact of the issue was limited to users in Western Europe. It appears that the root cause of the disruption stemmed from a data center located in Germany, which was not performing optimally.

We’re investigating an issue where some users in Western Europe are unable to access files within the Microsoft 365 Service. Further details can be found under MO597504 in the admin center.

We determined that the mitigations have helped resolve the underlying issue and our telemetry has confirmed that the impact to accessing files is now resolved. Further details can be found under MO597504 in the admin center.

In response, Microsoft took prompt action by implementing necessary mitigations to alleviate the strain on the affected data center. The problem was swiftly resolved within a few hours. Users could track the incident details under the reference ID MO597504 in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

The recent disruptions serve as a reminder of the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats and the importance of continuous efforts to enhance security measures.
