Microsoft has announced plans to releaseXbox Series X, its upcoming next-generation console, sometime in November 2020. The release window comes as both Microsoft and Sony remain tight on firm details surrounding the release of their respective next-generation consoles, with specific dates and pricing still to be announced.
The Xbox Series X has been on the radar for over a year, with its cutting-edge hardware marking a new generation within the Xbox family. That comes with the latest in CPU and GPU architectures from AMD, coupled with a custom-tuned solid-state drive (SSD) poised to cut loading times across the board. However, the announcement couples with theformal delay of Halo Infinite to 2021,meaning the signature shooter series will no longer debut alongside the console.
Microsoft’s scheduled release window for Xbox Series X isn’t a huge surprise, falling in line with prior estimates based on previous Xbox consoles. The original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One all saw November debuts, with the latest next-generation efforts seemingly on track, despite the rollercoaster known as 2020. But the confirmation is welcomed, as foundations continue to scale in the months leading until launch.
The loss of Halo Infinite will undoubtedly have an impact on its November potential, even withover 100 games confirmed for Xbox Series Xso far. More on Xbox Series X is expected to drop later this August, with the company set to continue its monthly cadence of updates on the upcoming device.
