As part of itsWindows client July 2023 roadmap, Microsoft is updating customers on the various operating system releases for the month that include Windows 11 23H2 being an enablement package and Windows 10 22H2 being the final version of the OS going forward.

Microsoft has repeatedly listed 2025 as the year Windows 10 stops receiving support from the company and as part of its client roadmap customers get some extra details regarding this finality. Clients still on Windows 10 will receive version 22H2 as their final version of Windows 10 and the end of support date is listed as October 14, 2025 “for all editions of that version.”

Microsoft also released a new Windows 10 Insider build for the Release Preview Channel,upping the version number to 19045.3269.

.For any company looking to make a last-ditch effort to transition to Windows 11, Microsoft also lists that there will be a Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) made available for Windows 11 during the second half of 2024. As for everyone else, there will be an upcoming Windows 11 23H2 enablement package (eKB) that allows users on version 22H2 to update to version 23H2. The eKB can be rolled out through various Windows Services such as Windows Server Update Services, Windows Update for Business, and Windows Autopatch.

When making the transition, clients can reset their service lifecycle and extend their license for another three years for the following products:

Lastly, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC will remain available through Volume Licensing as opposed to its traditional direct licensing format.

Clients will be able to access their Windows 10 IoT LTSCs starting August 1, 2023. Microsoft recommends clients consider the longer 10-year lifecycle of Windows 10 for devices specifically used in IoT scenarios and the limitation on special devices purchased outside of the IoT LTSC license from other OEMs.
