Microsoft is continuing efforts to improve the user experience of PowerToys through a redesigned homepage and the platform’s “incubation system” approach that tests and refines features before their official inclusion.
Microsoft PowerToys is a collection of system utilities designed specifically for power users on the Windows operating system. These tools are geared towards enhancing productivity and providing more customization options for users.
Earlier this month,PowerToys version 0.72 was introduced, including reduced storage consumption, new plugins for the Run utility, and enhancements to Mouse Highlighter and PowerRename.
Focusing on better visibility of enabled/disabled utilities, quick access to shortcuts, remapping a key using Keyboard Manager or launching Hosts File Editor, and links to in-depth settings should enhance user understanding and utilization of PowerToys’ functionalities.
PowerToys is an incubation system for testing new work. Some features are on be default, others off. Most of the time, we will default them to on. This, from time to time, leads to unexpected results when someone quickly invokes find my mouse or other utilities.
PowerToys remains freely available for Windows 10 and 11 users, with multiple sources for installation, such as the Microsoft Store, GitHub, and the “winget install” command.
