In December, Microsoft announced its plans tointroduce a new layout option for OneNote on Windows. The company termed this addition as a “top request” from users as it would make it easier for them to navigate through their resources.
The company has now announced thatthe Vertical Tabs layout option is now available for the OneNote Windows client. You should be able to access this new feature if you are running on Version 2302 (Build 16124.20000) or later.
To access this feature, you’ll need to navigate throughView > Tabs Layout > Vertical Tabs. Likewise, you can also revert back to the horizontal tabs layout option by navigating through the same path but instead of selecting Vertical Tabs choose Horizontal Tabs.
It should be noted that this new feature is not rolling out to OneNote for Windows 10 because Microsoft is set to drop its support in 2025. The company already removed it from the Microsoft Store and replaced it with thenew and unified OneNote app.
That said, you can still make use of OneNote for Windows 10 though you’ll now need a direct link to download it. It still features pages, sections, and notebooks aligned on the left-hand side, and more.
If you want to get the new unified app, it comes as part of the pre-installed Office apps in a new Windows 11 device. If not, check out our expert guide which will help youdownload and install the correct version of the app. We also invite you to check out our separate post that will equip you withneat tricks and tips that will help you get started with OneNote.
