Microsoft has announced anew update for the Paint app on Windows 11, exclusively for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. The update, labeled version 11.2304.17.0, brings a range of changes and improvements expected to be well-received by the community.
In the other big news, Windows 11 Insider build 22631.2048, which is now available,introduces Gallery for File Explorerfor Beta Channel Insiders.
One of the key features introduced in this new Paint app update is the support for dark mode in Paint. By default, the app will adapt to the system’s theme preferences. However, users now have the option to manually change this setting on the newly added settings page, providing them with greater customization control.
In addition to dark mode, Microsoft has enhanced the zoom controls in Paint. Users will now enjoy increased flexibility and control over the view of their content on the canvas. While the classic presets are still available, the update introduces finer granularity increments on the zoom slider, allowing for more precise zooming. Users can even set a custom zoom value for even greater accuracy. Furthermore, a new “fit to screen” option has been introduced to optimize the zoom level to match the window size, enabling users to adjust their canvas quickly.
To align with the new Windows 11 design, Microsoft has updated the “Image Properties” dialogues to match the app’s backdrop. Moreover, numerous accessibility and usability improvements have been implemented throughout the app, enhancing the overall user experience. The company has also focused on improving access key and keyboard shortcut support, aiming to boost accessibility and productivity for keyboard users.
