Earlier this year we reported thatNetflix was testing a way for subscribers to play mobile games on the big screenusing their phones as controllers. Now, it looks like streaming giant has taken that leap with the launch of a new mobile app.
The app is called “Netflix Game Controller” and has appeared in the Apple App Store, though it does not seem to be available in the Google Play Store at least at the time of this writing.
It’s unclear which games in the Netflix Games catalog might be compatible with the app, or if that will be a universal feature for all Netflix games. The app’s official description reads as follows:
“Coming soon to Netflix. Play games on your TV with the Netflix Game Controller. This Game Controller app pairs with your TV and allows you to play games on Netflix using your phone or mobile device.”
Netflix Gameswas launched in November 2021 as the company sought to diversify its offerings. It currently offers over 50 mobile game titles for members without additional fees to play.Netflix Games is expected to launch a cloud gaming servicesometime in the not-too-distant future.
