Microsoft introduced the sidebar in the Edge browser this summer to allow users to open apps easily without having to leave the page that they are on. In August, Microsoft Edge 104shipped to the stable channeland later on received a build update upping it to version 104.0.1293.63. This update unpacked a couple of new features to the Edge’s sidebar, among them,Outlook, Office, and Gaming.

While this tool has proven to be quite effective when it comes to accessibility and time conservation, there is still room for improvement. For instance, Outlook for web, which has been available in the Edge sidebar has not yet been optimized to fit in the Edge sidebar. The page that you would normally have on full display in a window is displayed in the Sidebar pane. In turn, this distorts viewing of the page and would call for the user to scroll through the whole page. Here’s a glimpse:

But this is about to change as Microsoft is currently testing out anoptimized version of Outlook for webthat now fits “perfectly” in the sidebar, thus enhancing visibility and readability.

However, you should note that you will not be able to add multiple accounts when using Outlook for web in the sidebar. What’s more, it also seems that it does not support dark mode.

If you are not familiar with the Edge sidebar, then you shouldcheck out our postthat highlights how to make the most out of the tool and what it’s all about. You will however need to have thelatest Edge versionto access the feature.
