Xbox Free Play Days returns this weekend. And while this time there is only one game featured, thankfully it’s a good one. Beginning Thursday, June 8Xbox Live GoldandXbox Game Pass Ultimatesubscribers will be able to playControl.
The Xbox Free Play Days event will run through Sunday, June 11. Remedy Entertainment’s action-adventure game was featured inone of our Xbox Classics Revisited posts, and was generally well-received upon release. It currently has a Metacritic score of 84 for both the Xbox One and PC versions.
After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, you become the new Director struggling to regain Control.
From developer Remedy Entertainment, this supernatural 3rd person action-adventure will challenge you to master the combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through a deep and unpredictable world.
Control is Jesse Faden’s story and her personal search for answers as she grows into the role of the Director. The world of Control has its own story, as do the allies Jesse meets along the way. Jesse works with other Bureau agents and discovers strange experiments and secrets.—Xbox Store Description.
Note that it is the (backward compatible) Xbox One version offered with Xbox Free Play Days this weekend. That version is currently on sale with a 70% discount as part of the Deals Unlocked Sale. The Xbox Series X|S version, Control Ultimate Edition, featured the next–gen upgrades, although that edition is not currently on sale.
