Today, Proton, the Swiss-based company renowned for its commitment to privacy and security, unveiled a significant addition to its lineup of privacy-focused services. The company announced the launch ofProton Drivefor Windows, a native application that offers Windows users a secure and end-to-end encrypted cloud storage solution.

With this latest release, Proton Drive’s renowned secure and private cloud storage experience is now available natively on Windows devices, providing users with an optimal solution for backing up, synchronizing, and sharing their encrypted files.

The application’s standout feature is its robust end-to-end encryption, guaranteeing that files stored on Proton Drive remain secure and private. Notably, this encryption ensures that not even Proton can access the files. With over 1.4 billion Windows users in the world, we knew we had to choose this platform first for our desktop app. We are committed to making privacy the default for everyone, and this new application is a big step on the path to that commitment.”

During the recent beta testing phase, users of the Proton Drive Windows app demonstrated a strong preference for the desktop application, uploading over five times more data compared to users utilizing only the web and mobile applications. This underscores the vital role desktop computers play in data synchronization and backup processes. By introducing the Windows application, Proton aims to make secure storage more convenient, swift, and reliable for its customers, ultimately reducing their risk of data loss.

Key features of the Proton Drive Windows app include:

Proton’s commitment to privacy and security continues to drive innovation, empowering users to take control of their data and communications while providing a reliable alternative to conventional cloud storage providers.
