Rocket League goes free-to-play later this summer on all platforms

Rocket League’s popularity knows no bounds, and developer Psyonix is ensuring everyone can get in on the action. Later this summer, Rocket League isgoing free-to-play on all platforms.

Once Rocket League goes free-to-play it will be unavailable to download through Steam. Instead, PC players will need to download the game through the Epic Games Store. Epic bought developer Psyonix last year, so the move isn’t all that surprising. The Epic Games Store version will be identical to the versions on other platforms and will support cross-play.

Psyonix stresses that the core gameplay will remain the same, but Tournaments and Challenges are being revamped. Cross-platform progression will also be introduced if you decide to download it on another system. It is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Anyone who owned the game before the launch of the free-to-play version will be upgraded to Legacy status and receive the following:
