Skype experienced a bug causing users to receive repeated push notifications. This issue affected some users and was attributed to a glitch in the app, resulting in multiple notifications from the app.

Skype acknowledged the problem and apologized through a tweet, stating they were actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. They assured users that they would provide updates on the progress of fixing the bug and would inform them when the issue was resolved.

Hello Skypers, we apologize for the repeated push notifications you may have received in the past few days. We are aware of this issue and are actively working to resolve it as soon as possible. We will update you on the progress and when the fix is in place.

Certain users have reported receiving frequent notifications, with some receiving them as often as every hour for specific features. In addition, some users have experienced an excessive amount of notifications for a single new message. These notifications have included information about chats and new features.

Skype is sending this notification once per day.

For a communications app to abuse notifications in this way is unconscionable. Of course I can’t turn them off. I just have to endure the abuse. Absolute shame on Skype and Microsoft.pic.twitter.com/VxAHLhR57y
