Insider Gaminghas reported that the first patch for Starfield has now gone live for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Update 1.7.23.0 will apparently weigh in at 13.4 GB and 15.48 GB respectively.

The update will be of particular intertest to Steam Deck owners, as it will include the addition of a virtual keyboard. Also the patch notes state that “Starfield will run on both the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally with the correct drivers, but the hardware below the recommended minimum specs and performance may suffer.”

In addition the update features several fixes to graphics, gameplay and quests. Among the fixed issues were ones where “sometimes hair would not appear on characters,” and “a rare issue that could cause Companions to float in the air.”

This sounds like classic Bethesda stuff, although reports have indicated thatStarfieldwill be less buggy than past Bethesda releases. We won’t have to wait too long to find out, as Starfield will finally release in early access for those with the Premium Edition on September 1. For everyone else—including Game Pass players—the game will launch on September 6.
