According to areport by IGN, theHaloTV series has officially recast Jen Taylor for the role of Cortana. Taylor is the original voice actor for the character and has even performed motion-capture for Cortana before, so many Halo fans will no doubt be pleased by this news. Taylor is filling in for Natascha McElhone, who was originally cast for the role of Cortana as well as the role of Dr. Catherine Halsey, the creator of both Cortana and the SPARTAN-II program that led to the emergence of the Master Chief and his fellow Spartans.

According to the report, the recast occurred because complications brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic prevented McElhone from fulfilling her role as Cortana. It’s important to note, however, that McElhone is still starring in the show as Dr. Halsey. Other notable names include Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, Danny Sapani as Captain Jacob Keyes and Olive Gray as Miranda Keyes.

According toprevious reports, the Halo TV show is expected to premiere sometime in 2021 on Showtime. The story is expected to follow the events of the Human-Covenant War, and will possibly retell parts of the narratives from the games.
