This one is for all the Whiteboard and Surface users out there, directly from the Redmond-based tech giant itself.
Microsoft recentlyannouncedthat it has revamped its Whiteboard collaboration application and that it will be coming to Surface Hub devices this month.
This new experience is designed to cater to hybrid workplace environments and will be rolling out to organizations over the next couple of weeks.
The revamped Whiteboard experience rolls out to Surface Hub
As we previously mentioned, companies with Surface Hub and Surface Hub 2S are about to receive this brand new experience through a Windows Update, as a part of phased rollout between February 14 and February 28.
And yes, this will directly integrate Whiteboard with your Teams app so that you can click on share your content to all the other participants in the call.
As far as layouts go, they will be optimized so that you can still see all participants. Another factor worth noting is that they will also have the ability to make changes to the Whiteboard.
Of course, this new feature will be compatible with PC, mobile, and web versions of Whiteboard, so you don’t have to worry about that either.
According to Microsoft, the standalone Whiteboard app will be automatically updated between February 28 and March 15.
Currently, it doesn’t have feature parity with other variants of the app, but you can have a look at the missing capabilitieson the official page.
Between March 15 and April 15, the Whiteboard app will migrate from Azure to OneDrive for Business in terms of storage needs. This will enable some additional features, such as:
Although the updated Whiteboard app will use OneDrive for Business in most new whiteboards, if a whiteboard is shared through the Surface Hub instead of another participant in a call, it will temporarily use Azure for storage.
However, if this proves to be a problem for you, you can simply contact Microsoft Support to block this.
