Key notes

It’s that time again. Just like what Microsoft did by revamping printer issues inKB5026436for Windows 11 users, officials in Redmond just rolled out theKB5026446updates for those in the 22H2 version.

Although there are several updates on the way, the (re)introduction of a keyboard shortcut for the Snipping Tool is particularly noteworthy. By pressing Win+Shift+R on your keyboard, you can now quickly access the screenshot utility app – with no manual enabling needed.

Here’s something interesting about KB5026446/22621.1776/Moment 3 in RP: the Win+Shift+R keyboard shortcut for Snipping Tool screen recording made it in and works (no manual enabling needed but you do need the M3 bits enabled)However, it opens the regular screen snipping UI.pic.twitter.com/r1pco3sCec

@PhantomOfEarth, a Windows enthusiast, has noticed that the screenshot only opens the typical screen-snipping user interface, instead of the screen-recording interface, which is a bit inconvenient. Brandon LeBlanc, a Senior Program Manager in the Windows Insider program, has been made aware of the problem and has stated that it may take some time to resolve.

It’ll be a little bit before this is fixed which is why we’re not promoting this yet.

Besides the well-revamped Snipping Tool, Microsoft also launched updates for the widget picker, live captions supports for several languages, a copy button for two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, and more.

To turn on live captions, use the WIN + Ctrl + L keyboard shortcut. You can also use the Quick Settings accessibility flyout menu. When you turn it on for the first time, Windows will ask you to download the required speech recognition support. Speech recognition support might not be available in your preferred language, or you might want support in other languages. You can download speech recognition support fromSettings>Time & Language>Language & region. To learn more, seeUse live captions to better understand audio.

When you turn on voice access for the first time, Windows will ask you to download a speech model. You might not find a speech model that matches your display language. You can still use voice access in English (US). You can always choose a different language fromSettings>Languageon the voice access bar.

Currently, you can enable multi-app kiosk mode using PowerShell and WMI Bridge. To learn more, seeUse MDM Bridge WMI Provider to create a Windows client kioskandCreate the JSON file. Support for Microsoft Intune, mobile device management (MDM), and provisioning package configuration is coming soon.
