We Happy Few is a game that caught our attention ever since we saw the first game pictures at E3. The game got us so hooked that we constantly scour the Internet to find out more details about the upcoming Game Preview version scheduled for release on July 26.

Fortunately, the We Happy Few team is generous in details and has recently published a new blog entry, keeping fans up to date with the latest elements and changes brought to the games. We’re more than happy to share the news with you.

Compulsion Games hasrewritten the diary entries, so that players can find out more about what is going on by reading Arthur’s journal. Some of the things he has written down in his diary may actually help you to solve your problems in the game. Some of them will fill you in on Arthur’s past.

Take the time to read them, but do that only when you’re in a quiet, safe place. Otherwise, the locals will find out you’re not on Joy and they will lynch you.

Another element that will reveal more information about the people of Wellington Wells arethe lettersthey are writing to one another. It’s not sure who delivers them, but you should read them as well as some of them will warn you about things you’re going to run into. It appears that whoever delivers the letters is not on Joy, so you’re not alone. Or is this nothing but a concoction of the system to trap you?

Compulsion Games also decided to make small but powerful changes to increase the gore level of the game. The piñata scene in the intro involved a piñata rat being smashed by the locals. But things would have been too simple, so the team decided to have the locals hit a rat in a bag and create a blood explosion.

Showing them hit just a rat was more powerful and got the point across better. In these images [we] wanted to get across really how much Joy influences the Wellies’ perception of their world.

All these details revealed by the Compulsion Games team hint to a fabulous game. We can’t wait to get our hands on it!
