Avalanche Software, the game developer behind Hogwarts Legacy, announced that it has pushed the release date of the hotly-anticipated game on older-gen consoles of Xbox One and PS4 to May 5, 2023.

Hogwarts Legacy has faced several pushbacks in release dates, especially for older consoles. For Xbox One and PS4, it was previously set to in 2021, then to February 2023, then to April of the same year.

What’s all the fuss with Hogwarts Legacy?

The action-packed open-world RPG game takes the players to the 1800s in Hogwarts castle. As a fifth-year student, you’ll learn different magical abilities to help you uncover a deeply-buried ancient secret of the world you’re living in.

Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. For the first time, experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.

Reception has been overwhelmingly positive towards Hogwarts Legacy, despite being critically perplexing in the eyes of the critics.

The game has sold over 12 million copies within the first two weeks with over $850 million made globally, according to Warner Bros’ figures. While the game has been released on Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, 2023, it’s going to take a little while for it to arrive for the majority of people.

As for Nintendo Switch users, the game will arrive on July 25, 2023.
