Windows 11 Insider Dev Channel reportedly to soon get busy reintroducing missing features and adding new ones

The Windows Insider Dev Channel could soon get busy. According toWindows Central’s Zac Bowden, Microsoft is readying some big builds, which might bring back some of the missing features people have been complaining about, and even add new ones.

The news comes after atwo-week pausein Windows Insider builds, and per Bowden’s sources, this pause was because Microsoft was busy adding new features and changes. You can expect a big jump in build numbers as a result, too, from the current 225xx to 250xx.

This means the return of Windows features like the ability to create app folders in the Start Menu, support for file dragging and dropping on the Taskbar. In addition, new blur effects could be on the way soon

Other new features coming to Windows Insiders include a “Snap Bar” feature and touch features for Start Menu and Quick Settings. Notable of that is the ability to drag up on from the bottom of the screen to get to Quick Settings or the Start Menu. Snap Bar, meanwhile, could “be another way of snapping multiple app windows to the built-in snapping grid system on Windows 11,” according to Bowden.

In other areas of visuals, Bowden believes Microsoft is even working to bring acrylic/blur effects in legacy title bars. This will best be seen in Win32 apps. This should help with the design consistency in Windows 11, which has been said is a goal for Microsoft this year.

So, when will everyone else expect these features? Well, look out for it in the next major Windows 11 release, for the second half of this year in “Sun Valley 2.” It definitely seems like it’ll be an exciting time to be a Windows Insider soon.
