Microsoft is planning to pushWindows 7usersto upgrade toWindows 10by sending desktop notifications. The notifications will informusersabout theend of support deadlinei.e January 14, 2020.

The push notifications will appear on your screens starting next month.

Windows 7 End Of Support

Microsoft has already warnedWindows 7usersthat it is not going to support Office 2020 onWindows 7devices.

Userswill no longer receive security updates on their devices. Microsoft has already advised itsusersto upgrade to Office 365 andWindows 7.

Those who are not planning to upgrade will have to keep theirdevices vulnerable to threatsand cyber-attacks.

That is the only reason Microsoftreleased a payment planfor the extended add-on support.

The only drawback is that it doubles every year and Microsoft will charge you on a per device basis.

In short you, will end up paying quite a nice sum over the course of 3 years for extended security updates.

Upgrade Notifications

The upgrade notifications are going to informusersabout the end of support deadline. A link to the Microsoft site will also be there.Userscan then click the link to find out more details regarding the end of support.

The notifications are not going to specifically mention theWindows 10version you should install. In fact, the website is going to encourageusersto eitherbuy a new machinethat comes with the latest version orupgrade the existing OSto the latest version.

Matt Barlow, the corporate vice president of Windows wrote in a blog post,

These notifications are designed to help provide information only and if you would prefer not to receive them again, you’ll be able to select an option for ‘do not notify me again,’ and we will not send you any further reminders.

Most of theusersfind the desktop notifications are nothing but a big mess.
