Microsoft is reportedly pushing for its Rewards initiative for Xbox users on their Home UI. People are, simply, not having it.
As spotted from therelease notefrom the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring of Xbox insiders (Build 2308.230515-2200), a select group of users will notice a convenient update that allows them to view their Rewards points balance directly from the Home screen.
That means, you don’t have to search too far either—it will be located in the top corner where you usually find your Xbox Gamertag.
Depending on your account, you might see your points balance as the information cycles, or you might spot it alongside your Gamerscore.
People aren’t happy with Microsoft Rewards on Xbox Home UI
This wasn’t the first time that the Redmond tech giant attempts to push for Microsoft Rewards to a new extent.
Not too long ago, we reported that insiders onEdge Canaryare seeing a toggle that automatically detects NGOs that allow them to donate with Rewards points. Canary is the experimental channel of the Microsoft Edge browser.
Microsoft also launched an initiative thatrewards usersfor using Edge. To put it simply, for each search you perform on Bing in Microsoft Edge on PC or mobile, you can earn from 5 up to 20 points a day (around 150 to 600 points a month).
Some users, however, have been loudly expressing their frustration with the introduction of these promotions. They have requested a more streamlined browsing experience.
One user onRedditpassionately stated,
Microsoft, if you are reading this, stop putting new crap in a fairly good browser!!
They further expressed their dissatisfaction, asserting that they do not want to see Microsoft Rewards promotions integrated into their browsing experience.
The user’s plea urged Microsoft to keep the browser lean and mean, or at least clean, suggesting that they offer extensions or alternative methods to access additional features without forcing them upon users.
