Key notes
As you can remember, last week brought some excellent news for Call of Duty players everywhere. Microsoft finally fixed the old Call of Duty game matchmaking onCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3. They were fixed on Xbox 360 and players could once again play multiplayer matches.
Previously, these games’ matchmaking wouldn’t work at all, despite the huge number of active players still present in the games.
Spotted by this Twitter user, it seems that you can now find players in matchmaking very easily and it shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to play the multiplayer matches.

Following the fix by Microsoft, Xbox 360 Call of Duty games ended up being the top-selling games in the Xbox store, according to The Verge.

People are reporting Xbox Series X’s being sold out in stores
Not only have Xbox 360 Call of Duty games became the top-selling games in the Xbox store, but it seems that Xbox S consoles are sold out in stores. People are reporting that you are no longer able to find Xbox X consoles in stores, in specific areas such as New York City area.
Apparently, none of the GameStops in the area have brand new Series X consoles in stock, according to auser on Twitter.
In the NYC area, none of the GameStops have brand new Series X consoles in stock.BestBuy is a different story as some of the stores do have it in stock. I expect that to change over the weekend as people are actively looking to purchase the console now just for the classic COD…
Xbox X consoles sales on Amazonhave also risen by 84%,according to another tweet from Xbox News.

If Microsoft has something to learn from this is that a lot of people are very passionate about older games.Shadowrun, another old Xbox game, was also fixed and people reacted positively about it. So maybe, it’s time for Microsoft to consider bringing back older games to the newer Xbox consoles.
Should we thank the Microsoft-Activision deal for the old CoD games matchmaking?
Well, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Just last week, Microsoft was handed the green in the case with FTC; the Redmond-based tech giant is now free to close the deal with Activision-Blizzard, despite the FTC’s attempts to block it.
So, while this might be merely a coincidence, Microsoft might be preparing something here. Maybe once the deal is done, we may see Call of Duty games on Xbox Game Pass at some point in the future.
Who knows? But the recent fixing of the old Call of Duty games on Xbox 360 might very well point that Microsoft is ready to handle a lot more Call of Duty games from now on.
For now, though, if you were nostalgic about some fun multiplayer Call of Duty sessions, head over, plug in your Xbox 360, and have some good old fun, as they say.
